The Kevin Bishop Show May Be The Worst Comedy Program To Ever Have Been On Television. Also, Dale’s Out.
(Not in the gay sense.)
Between Big Brother episodes tonight I watched the Kevin Bishop show, staring that man from the moderately amusing yet astonishingly over-hyped Rock Profiles-esque Star Stories, and currently starring in those awful Natwest adverts. It was absolutely abhorrent, the worst kind of comedy: utterly bereft of any form of humour. There was a even a joke about tourettes as an excuse to swear because it’s really really funny. Channel 4, next week I shan’t be watching Big Brother in case I accidentally watch Kevin Bishop again, and you can tell him I said that. Got a gap? Call me. I could write a sketch show that will shit on that one in half an hour, and I’ll have it ready by thursday.
Anyway, you don’t care about the worst sketch show in the UK, do you? You care about Ol’ Rape Eyes. And, after 65 days of watching him do nothing he’s leaving my vision nearly forever. We see how Dale took the news. “You can have a wank,” says Sara. “You can see Jen!” I think those two may go hand in hand, pardon the pun. Dale leaves the house and, oddly, the boos are conspicuously absent. Why? He’s an idiot. Oh, GET REX OUT, I see.
Dale blah blah blah. He’s got a fat tongue and it keeps hanging over his bottom teeth, his jaw jutting forward in concentration. Dale gets asked about saying “nail some fanny,” and sort of denies saying it, oddly, despite there being a video right there. Davina calls Dale handsome, and he gets angry – there’s those eyes! – and accuses her of saying that he’s “deep as a puddle”. It’s an uncomfortable half-second, really. Don’t finish your drink, Davina. God knows what he’s put in there. Davina shows Dale a clip of Jen proclaiming her love for him and so it goes. WE HAVE A NEW CHARLES AND DI! JORDAN AND PETER! KERRY AND BALD DRIVER! Brilliant. Heat will run with this for weeks and weeks.
Dale’s Best Bits are what they are. He strips a bit and people lust. And then Jen runs on and all our hearts melt, right? Next week: More dull, surely? I predict that Rex is leaving us in a week, incidentally. This show closes by going back to the house, live, for a second, and to Rex and Nicole lying on the floor and Rex talking about his “big willy”. He’ll be out. PROVE ME WRONG, PUBLIC!

How can u say that the kevin bishop show is’nt funny?
It’s one of the best things to come out of the channel 4 line-up in monthes!!!
Besides, anyone who watches big brother holds no opinion of their own and therefore has no sense on reality.

Dear Lewis,
I’m sorry, but it is absolutely dreadful. Big Brother is dreadful as well, but I suspect that it knows that itself. The Kevin Bishop show is – honestly – absolutely bereft of anything funny. It’s utterly tepid and rooted in comic mires that I hoped we got rid of ten years ago – terrible impressions, awful catchphrases, awful accents and satire that barely classes as such. Last night – this would be the evening of the second episode of the show – I watched it again, hoping I was wrong, and I saw an awful joke about tanorexia that seemed to focus on the word being the funny thing, a word that has been around far longer than the Kevin Bishop show, and a terrible Dutch accent stolen from the Fast Show years and years ago (when, I should stress, it was only quite funny).
I understand that you are defensive, Lewis: you have chosen to watch this, by which I must deduce it is your first ever comedy show, and we all love our first time, right? But no. It’s isn’t a highlight of Channel 4. And that is my opinion. It’s an opinion based upon watching Channel 4’s many documentaries, comedy shows and dramas, and finding it one of the best channels in the UK. The Kevin Bishop lets it down horrendously.
It is true, however, that I have no sense of reality: I even doubt that you are real, sometimes.
Yours,
Big Bother.

I think we should all give the guy a chance. Christ, he’s only 21 and after watching half an episode I can say it was quite funny.
I also have the GREATEST awarness of what good comedy is, ie Bottom, Red Dwarf, Black Adder, Falty Towers, The Fast Show etc. and this is by no means as good but still showed promise.
His sketch about the new gladiators was very funny……
…’And now meet our new Gladiator…..Vaginal Discharge’ LOL.
Maybe it will appeal to the more childish comedy fans out there, but comedy is not in abundence at the moment and this type is more than welcome.
Good luck Kevin!

Totally agree with Psilas!
I think Kevin is funny, talented and very good looking,
quite deserve to have his own show at 21.
What did you do at 21, Big Bro, I myself didn’t even have a job.
Show like these, Can’t expect every single sketch to be so great.
And awful accents / terrible impressions can be funny too.
I think the show is funny enough.
Keep up the good work Kevin!
And do more movie please!

Hello everyone,
I have done some research into Kevin Bishop this evening. First of all, Ryan, he isn’t 21. He’s 28. Actually, that is the same age as myself – I’m two months older than him – but whilst I don’t have my own TV show, I do have a PhD. I did have a job at age 21 as well, but then, I am exceptionally talented. I also think it’s worrying that we, as television viewers, have lowered our standards to a point where we accept something imperfect, flawed etc. It’s dangerous, accepting dross as something that we like simply because there’s nothing else. “Funny enough” should never be something we settle for.
Psilas, given that he’s actually 28, should we still give him a chance? I do think that his career is somewhat based on nepotism, as he’s basically ridden a wave of TV shows and films since childhood based on only a mediocre slice of talent. Did you know that he starred in Muppet Treasure Island, the film that killed the Muppet franchise? I blame him for that. I am a huge fan of all the comedies you mention, but I can promise you that none of them would make a Gladiators joke, and I did not laugh at Vaginal Discharge being a name of gladiator. He could have written any basic vulgarity, and the effect would have been the same, let’s be honest.
And Luke, giving him “the biggest credit” is confusing. Is this young person slang? I imagine his credit is quite good, as he has his own telly show. Mine is capped at £500, because I really shouldn’t be trusted with more.
Regardless, I have tried with this – I love comedy shows, and I wanted it to be good, but it isn’t. IN MY HUMBLE OPINION.
Still, thanks for reading, everyone! This has been great.
Big Bother
PS: Kevin Bishop has also featured in My Family, which is only one step better than that Jasper Carrot thing with all the minorities featured in it. It’s nothing to be proud of.

We live in an age where it is not necessary to be funny to do comedy. Kevin Bishop is about as funny as a 6 year old boy & “Star Stories” is utter dreck.
It’s anti comedy & nobody questions it because everything is “post modern”. How else do you explain “The Charlotte Church Show”, “Fone Jacker”, “The IT Crowd” & “The Friday Night Project”? All channel 4 shows, all featuring comedy of the most banal, peurile & embarassingly unfunny kind. Perhaps if you’re 20 years old & have been brought up on US made comedy tripe, you just don’t know any better & your expectations are as low as can be.

As for “giving people a chance” & “he’s young & good looking”…it’s a 30 min tv show, not a young offender.
If you’re eating a meal & the first mouthful tastes disgusting, you don’t keep eating it hoping the taste will improve. If it tastes shit, you STOP EATING IT.
There are lots of Bishop clips on youtube & it beggars belief how many people actually think he’s funny…comments like “genius”!! Let’s all bow down to Bishop & his creative genius as he does a spoof of “Ross Kemp on Gangs”…”Ross Kemp on Drugs” “Ross Kemp on Viagra” “Ross Kemp on the Toilet”…..are these people who find this dross amusing 12 years old or just very stupid?
